Abstract

Suvremeni sustavi vizualnih komunikacija na kojima se temelje i reprodukcijski procesi

grafičke tehnologije permanentno se unaprijeđuju novim spoznajama vezanima uz rezultate

istraživanja pojedinih vizualnih efekata.

U okviru ovog doktorskog rada provedeno je istraživanje utjecaja različitih ciljanih

parametara unutar procesa grafičke reprodukcije na intenzitet i pojavnost efekta neonskog

proširivanja boje. Istraženo je djelovanje različitih medija (dvije tiskovne podloge i zaslon

računala) u sklopu „cross-media“ reprodukcijskog sustava izrade grafičkih proizvoda, te uloga

odabira boje umetnutog segmenta i pozadine primarnog stimulusa (različite kombinacije

primarnih boja aditivne i suptraktivne sinteze) kao elementa dizajnerskih rješenja. Navedeni

parametri procjenjivani su u različitim ambijentalnim uvjetima promatranja odnosno pod tri

standardna CIE izvora svjetla.

Efekt neonskog proširivanja boje manifestira se u pomaku pojavnosti boje stvaranjem

prividnog proširenja boje primarnog stimulusa na pozadini grafičkih reprodukcija, u području

rešetke veličine primarnog stimulusa, ali i u samom procesu oblikovanja predložaka u sklopu

izrade dizajnerskih rješenja. Istraživanje efekta je provedeno na testnim uzorcima čiju osnovu

predstavlja tzv. Ehrensteinov model - specifična geometrijska struktura koju čini ortogonalni

sustav rešetkasto postavljenih linija oblikovanih preklapanjem različitih kombinacija boja

primarnog stimulusa.

Intenzitet efekta prikazan je izračunatim kolorimetrijskim razlikama boja E94 koje

predstavljaju odstupanje manifestirane boje u efektu neonskog proširivanja boje u odnosu na

boju medija reprodukcije. Pomak pojavnosti boje u efektu neonskog proširivanja boje opisan

je kroz izračun promjene percepcijskih atributa boje - promjene svjetline L* , promjene

kromatičnosti *

ab H . Statistička analiza rezultata istraživanja

provedena je primjenom odgovarajućih neparametarskih testova.

Na osnovi dobivenih rezultata istraživanja dane su smjernice budućih istraživanja te

uvjeti primjene istraživanih utjecajnih parametara vezani uz oblikovanje i otiskivanje

grafičkih proizvoda u okolnostima potencijalne manifestacije efekta neonskog proširivanja.

Abstract (english)

Modern systems of visual communications, on which reproduction processes of graphic

technology are also based on, are permanently improved with new findings in conjuction with

the research of certain visual effects.

As a part of this thesis, the influence of various parameters within the target process of

graphic reproduction on the intensity and appearance of the neon colour spreading effect was

investigated. The influence of different media (two printing substrates, and a computer

screen) in the “cross-media” reproduction system of the graphic products production was

examened, as well as the role of the inserted segment color choice and background of the

primary stimulus (different combinations of primary colors additive and subtractive synthesis)

as an element of design solutions. These parameters were evaluated in a variety of ambient

conditions and under the observation of three CIE standard light sources and illuminants.

Neon colour spreading effect manifests itself in the shift of colour appearance by creating

apparent colour spreading of the primary stimulus in the background of graphic reproductions,

in the lattice as large as the primary stimulus, but also in the process of pattern shaping while

providing design solutions. The study of effect was conducted on the test samples, based on

Ehrenstein figure, i. e. specific geometric structure consisting of sets of orthogonal lines

formed by combining various color combinations of the primary stimuli.

The intensity of the effect is calculated using the color difference variable E94 , which

represents the deviation in manifestation of neon colour spreading effect in relation to the

color of the reproduction media. The shift in color appearance of the neon colour spreading

effect is described through the calculation of changes in perceptual attributes of color, i. e. the

lightness difference L* , the chroma difference *

ab H .

Statistical analysis of results was conducted by using appropriate nonparametric tests.

Based on the obtained results, the guidelines for the future work are given, mainly about

how to apply examined influential parameters in processes of designing and printing graphic

products, having in mind potential manifestation of the neon colour spreading effect.
